(LAUGH) — Douglas)Living here in LA, I have seen movies in both situations, including the luxurious studio theater at Walt Disney Studios replete with red velvet chairs and couches.As you suspect, most entertainment industry people haven’t seen a movie in the "real" cinema in years. That, or they pay extra to go to our Arclight cinemas where previews are limited or banned and children are banned from some shows. Of course, you can also get a cocktail and upscale food in these cinemas, which is not typical here.The fact is, the movie production system is totally divorced from the movie presentation industry. The moviemakers have no voice in how their work is presented by the theater owners.As with all good business, "maximizing shareholder value" outweighs all else. Even here in LA fewer and fewer people are going to cinema. For most of them, they have an almost superior cinema in their own home. Why deal with the rabble at all?
