I have been writing in Moleskine notebooks for several years and it was not until December 2010 that I realised that many of my notebooks contained complete ideas that I had not translated or copied from those books. As I sat on a train leaving London on a dark December evening I wrote the first entry in this blog and took a photo and posted it to twitpic. It wasnt until a few days later that I realised that twitpic wasnt going to hold up to my needs and I started the posts through this Posterous blog ( before they were called spaces ).

Every day I write one or more pages into my moleskine notebook and I put the dates on each never editing or altering the order of the posts and the pages from book to book. I use a UniBall Jetstream Gel pen and the Moleskine Journal notebook and I take the photos with my iPhone, uploading them through the posterous iphone application.

I create these pages for several reasons; a few of which I have written about in this blog. For the sake of people accessing this site through other means here is why I write my blog posts.

A pen and paper make it hard to edit and capitulate on your thoughts, spelling and ideas. It is hard to go back and change your ideas and your structure once the ink is set to the page

Reading the page and consuming the words requires a human to be there and look at the page. As far as I am aware google cannot OCR and index the content of the pages. In effect I am making robots blind and forcing a meme to travel only at the speed of mind.

Revision and correction of past posts is very , very , difficult. It may be true that nothing on the Internet can be deleted and a picture paints a thousand words. In this case I create a picure of words which are multiplied and divided and burnt into digital and consumed. They feel as permanent as stone etched letters.

I am basically pervese and love the idea of moleskine journals divested of their surroundings laid out on a photograph as one icon of creativity abuses the other.
